That said, I was reasonably well read up on the procedure and a little bit nervous about how directly this was connected to me. However, not only did I have the same excellent care I’ve had throughout this, somehow I ended up with a team of super cool “hang-loose dude” surgeon and nurse that made it almost surreal. They showed me everything, convinced me now to worry and that I was in excellent hands, and I even remember having this great conversation about something right before I went under for surgery. Moments later I popped back awake and everything was fine. They re-reassured me it was ok, and I was on my way. Looking back it may be the coolest surgical experience I’ve had so far. To be fair, to this day, it does still feel a little weird to say and know that there’s something called a port directly connected to me though.

September 28, 2023 David reported to the hospital to undergo the procedure to implant a port in his chest.
